Description
On Saturday March 23 2024 at Woodward Park in Manteca our Auxiliary hosted a Community Easter Egg Hunt. Our Past President Kitty Walker was our chairmen co-chaired by two other Auxiliary members also worked with 6 of our City Officials: i.e. Mayor Gary Singh and Congressmen Steve DeBrum; the Sunrise Kiwanis group Youth Focus Group Sierra High School JROTC. 6 other auxiliary members 4 comrades plus 4 other volunteers all worked together for this event. There were thousands of plastic Easter Eggs stuffed with candy chocolate stickers coins etc by our auxiliary members. There were bicycles Target gift cards and plush animal toys to give away. We even had lined up a Taco truck for the day. Sadly weather warnings of winds and rain for that day almost put a ""damper"" on it. With a bit of brainstorming the auxiliary came up with the idea to ""post on as many media outlets"" as we know of especially our VFW Aux. FB page that because of the weather we will have a ""drive by"" Easter Egg Event"" instead of a hunt in the park. And that is exactly what we did within the Woodward Park parking lot we had stations for attenders to drive up to and the various volunteers would scoop out from our many many bins of these stuffed eggs and pour into the attender's ""Easter Baskets or bags or spin a wheel to win a gift card or toy or bike. It was a great turn out. Several hundred children with families came. This is an event that we will host again. It was a great project to share with the Kiwanis JROTC Youth Focus and the City of Manteca!
