Description
The Auxiliary voted to reimburse Martha Steelman for her $100 ticket to attend the fundraiser for Homeward Bound Veterans. The keynote speaker was a young Marine veteran who lost both legs just below the waist and a portion of his left arm when he activated an IED while walking point in Afghanistan. He is a remarkable person who has achieved amazing accomplishments. Homeward Bound Veterans is founded and staffed by veterans who understand the struggles of transitioning from military to civilian life. The organization assists our homeless veterans for 90 days. A Volunteer Veteran Advocate first meets with the veteran one on one to access their situation and direct them to the necessary assistance. They then provide a nationwide network of resources and support to homeless and at-risk veterans. The team is committed to helping these brave individuals for up to 90 days to find the assistance they need to get back on their feet. Their Director Michael Mallonee has set a goal of building 10 homes for homeless vets on the west coast in the next several years. Homeward Bound Veterans purposed from love and respect aids our homeless veterans in finding their way back to society.
