Worked with a member to help them understand the role of the Patriotic Instructor in the organization. This member thought that the ""Patriotic Instructor"" was assigned to work on the ""Patriot's Pen"" program. I informed her that the Patriotic Instructor is normally the Americanism Chairman and that their role is to be an officer at the alter when the Chaplain reads the Prayer and then they recite the Patriotic Instructor's paragraph from the ritual and lead the Pledge of Allegiance. The Patriotic Instructor also does floorwork to place the POW/MIA flag at the beginning of the meeting when requested.
I also explained that the Patriot's Pen Scholarship is part of the Scholarship's Chairman's responsibility to promote the program. Just because the word Patriot is in both does not make the Patriot's Pen Scholarship program promotion the responsibility of the Patriotic Instructor. They are separate functions although they can be performed by the same person just under different roles.
Hours and members reported under Americanism.
