| Member Martha Steelman accompanied her husband a post member attending a Community Kickoff Event for Homes for our Troops (HFOT) beneficiary HM3 Nathaniel Leoncio. The event was held in San Marcos. They wore their motorcycle vests because the RFTW is a partner organization and provided escort for HM3 Leoncio to the event but he was surprised that they also represented the VFW and Auxiliary. They intend to see him again when he receives the keys to his new home. They were a little surprised that the HFOT President/CEO Brigadier General USA (Ret) Tom Landwermeyer specifically called out the sacrifices of the Vietnam Vets and asked them to stand for acknowledgement.
Homes for our Troops (HFOT) is a publicly funded 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization that builds and donates specially adapted custom homes nationwide for severely injured post 9/11 Veterans to enable them to rebuild their lives. |
