Description
A new member joined At Large. I helped him a few years ago to get his grandfather's paperwork from WWl to join the Auxiliary. I was contracted by a Comrade from my post who knew him / or of him and had contact with him. She passed Doc on to me. Apparently the Auxiliaries in Doc's area did not want to go to the trouble of helping him get the information he needed to get his Grandfather's paperwork. 2 to 3 years later he finally got it and joined as a Life Member at Large. So after spending time with him last night and again today I wrote down all the information I could to help him navigate the system. It can be very daunting to click on the National link and have not idea where to start. So I walked him through everything I thought was important to know in the very beginning. Encouraged him to peruse the links I gave him and then slowly start going through the rest as time allowed.. I gave him information on attending posts and joining auxiliary meetings to see how they work. Each Aux is different and to find out where he is most comfortable. Doc really wants to be a Cootie but needs to wait until September to join. But I did tell Doc to ask about visiting meetings {if allowed} to again see where he might fit best. I also perused the MOCA website and the Auxiliary and sent him the links for later. All the email for membership to ask about Pup Tents in his area. I also asked about Pup Tents in my area {which happens to be Dallas County Texas. I did find out I could be a member at large for Cooties but there was to a lot of information on that so I asked about that for myself. I let Doc know to call or email me with any questions/concerns he has. If I don't have an answer I will definitely find out for both of us
