| Description |
| During a local stand down members volunteered to put on a fishing event for the homeless veterans. The goal was to give the veterans some basic fishing skills which might provide them with food in certain situations and also to provide some recreational time. Collapsible fishing poles were provided by East Bay Regional Parks. I addition to the offsite fishing the veterans were also able to participate in a Casting contest in a grassy area near the tents at the stand down site. The area contained a couple dozen plastic fish that could be snagged by the participants and then dragged in as a catch if it didn't wiggle loose or drop off at the last moment. Around the fish were six 5-gal buckets filled with prizes & swag for the winning casting participants to select from. This turned out to be very popular with the Veterans. All prizes were donated. |
