| Annually our Post's Car Club hosts a Bike Giveaway for underprivileged children in Manteca. In years past our auxiliary has donated funds to help them differ some costs. This year one of our members Patty Park who is good friends with the manage.r of our local Walmart store asked him about reserving some bikes from the ""Black Friday Sale."" He informed her of a special grant of $1000.00 that Walmart gives out. He encouraged us to apply that our chances were good that we'd get it. She then contacted me the Secretary/Treasurer to inform me that she couldn't fill out the application only an officer of our organization could do it and she would work with me on it. After several hours of the filing process and all the steps along the way we were denied the grant as we are a 501 C.....we then recontacted the Walmart manager to inform him of the outcome he felt so bad theat he not only sold us 10 bikes at ""Black Friday"" prices plus vteran discounts he also donated another 4 bikes from Walmart as well for the under privileged children. The bikes were delivered the our Post on Friday December 15 2023 and given out on Saturday December 16th |
