VFWA 3699 voted to have our annual Holiday Lucheon for Marines from 29 Palms Base. We held it at 1534 in Desert Hot Springs. I spoke with the Col. of the Base. We had over 50 Marines in need. So we requested the $3000 from Department to help pay for $50 Walmart gift cards and food. Total spent was $8 438. There was 50 x $50 in gift cards and each Marine/Navy was given a card. We spent $1500 in food. We had BBQ Ribs Corn on the Cob Baked Beans Salad Bar and a Desert Bar. We gave all the Marines/Sailors a large Christmas Stocking full of snacks and Holiday goodies. Stockings went up to $3 each and everything was at least 3 x times more than privious years. We also hired a D.J and a Bull Riding which they really enjoyed. They sang Karoke. I was awarded a Plaque from Congressman Raul Ruiz for the 20 years of service to our active duty. But it takes all of us. Some in District 3 sent $50 a couple of auxiliaries sent $100- Without everyone's support I couldn't do it alone. We were also intervied on the local KESQ chanel.
