Description
It is always a pleasure to be involved in helping veterans through the Stand Down event. I believe this was the 7th Annual North County Veterans Stand Down held at Green Oak Ranch 1237 Green Oak Rd. Vista CA. I have worked at the event for 4 of those 7 years and have gone away with a good feeling each time. Matt Foster President and his wife Carrie Foster Director of Operations are members of VFW #1513 in Escondido CA. The event was from Thursday October 19 through Sunday October 22 2023. Set up days were Monday October 16 through Wednesday 18 2023. I worked all 7 days. Monday through Wednesday I worked in the Hospitality Store helping to sort hang and re-box clothing by type and size. Thursday through Sunday I worked at the Volunteer Check-in Tent with Team Leader Evie Holland from VFW Auxiliary #7420 Don Diego and other ladies who worked part-time at the tent. Annette Bongiovanne Team Leader at The Mall and I were the only people from VFW Post/Auxiliary 7907 Poway (to my knowledge) who worked at North County Stand Down this year. All together I worked 56 1/2 hours. I also donated a sleeping bag $56.03 for an attendee at the event.
