Description
As District 17 advisor I was requested by District President to attend a meeting with two (2) Auxiliary members Treasurer and Secretary and District Commander. Purpose was to hear issues the Auxiliary was having to put out items and the Post Commander along with the immediate Past Auxiliary President. Hearing the issues I advised the members that any time they wished to have anything else to do in their Post home aside from their regular meeting night that they needed permission from the Post Commander House Committee or whomever they are told the contact is. I further advised that they ensure when they have permission that they see that the event gets on the Post Calendar. They were happy to learn this. On other matters The District Commander was attentive to the issues with the Post. I was able to prompt the Treasurer from what she had relayed the issues were and circumstances that were happening. I provided a report to District President and Commander of my recollection of what was said and the 3 steps the District Commander will take to help the Auxiliary. I learned the next day that the Post is on Suspension and the Commander was removed with cause. I stayed for the Auxiliary meeting. I was able to instruct the following. 1. When reading the minutes the Secretary needs to read what she wrote rather than try to summarize the minutes she wrote. It gives for a better flow and makes it easier for members to hear what occurred. 2. Treasurer had mentioned and talked about a $50.00 check from a member. She then asked if she wanted the members to read all her entries. The members said no in unison. I asked for permission to speak and advised the members that they should want to know what monies were received and from whom as well as how their money is being spent who is being paid and for what should be of utmost importance. I cited 3 examples. Most then agreed and one member spoke up saying ""You are right I do want to know what is going on."" I answered questions from the members regarding membership applications and audit forms. Showed Treasure how and where to locate the membership application on MALTA. I advised her to send a message or use the order form I showed her on MALTA to order the Membership brochures.
