| Each month our Post hosts a ""Veteran Giveaway Day"" which is the 2nd Thursday of each month. This Vet. Giveaway is for veterans and their families to come to the Post and receive a plethora of things while staying in their vehicles such things as fresh produce non-perishable foods breads beverages (i.e. Gatorade or Propel Cold Brew...) hygiene products also VA Representatives come to talk with them and help them with any questions regarding their benefits. During the giveaway process I am responsible for checking everyone in and verifying that the recipients are indeed veterans. Since we do this each month I have gotten to know the veterans and their wives/husbands (as some of them are widows/widowers or their spouse is bed ridden and cannot leave the house. I have tried to encourage them to join the auxiliary as we have a few of our members who are widows as well and certainly would understand things that they might be going through. Month after month I've been talking to them about getting involved. On Thursday October 12 2023 I gave two of the widows our brochure with the attached application. We'll see. |
