Description |
Dignity Alcove is a Homeless Shelter for Veterans and is located in Stockton. Our auxiliary had heard that they were struggling. I reached out to Ricky Rodriguez who runs the home with his wife. The house that they were running the shelter at had fallen into disrepair. and the owner of the building was negligent in making the necessary repairs. the City of Stockton got involved and had the building condemned until the repairs are made. That meant that ""Dignity Alcove"" were evicted. They have a new location unfortunately most of their furniture and belongings were stolen and/or vandalized. Through the generosity of other organizations and the general public of Stockton they had just about all that they needed to reopen except for 2 twin bedframes and 2 twin mattresses. After a unanimous vote I called a local mattress store in Manteca that I know to be veteran owned ""Bedquarter"" and spoke with Steve Lewis. He gave them $100.00. Soooo...Auxiliary 6311 purchased those last items for ""Dignity Alcove"" so that they can now reopen and help get some homeless veterans the help they need. |
