Actual date of activity 5/29. Post 1525 and its Auxiliary hosted the annual Memorial Day ceremony in Clayton. 9 members were in attendance and the Auxiliary Chaplain gave the closing prayer. It was a moving ceremony with 5 Gold Star families present. The keynote speaker was 99 yr old Chuck Kohler a Pearl Harbor survivor. The Gold Star Moms laid a Buddy Poppy wreath to the sound of ""hallelujah-veterans version” and placed dog tags for their sons and daughters on the soldiers cross. Members of the Civil Air Patrol Diablo Squadron then placed dog tags on the soldiers cross for those lost locally in the Vietnam war and since Post 9/11. The ceremony closed with a live rendition of Taps. |
