| In our county the majority of the offices for companies that offer veterans services are headquartered in the southern section of our County which can be difficult or inconvenient to get to. Additionally most of the resource fairs for veterans are held in the southern cities. We wanted to find a way to help our veterans in the north county to connect and learn more about what's available to them from the various organizations in our area. 29 organizations participated in the North County Veterans Resource Fair organized by the VFW Auxiliary 2814 and the San Luis Obispo County Veterans Services. Over 200 veterans and their families found information on health benefits nutrition health and wellness VA loans burial rights social groups assistance dogs senior care and more at the free event. Additionally the local Kiwanis Club cooked tri-tip sandwiches for sale to the public and through donations from the community our Auxiliary was able to sponsor lunch for 40 veterans. We also offered free music and activities for kids including corn hole and patriotic coloring activities.
